Properties: Bitter, Neutral

Common: Fish Poison Yam Rhizome, Tokoro

Latin: Rhizoma Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae

Functions:

• To resolve turbid urine;
• To expel wind and transform dampness

Indications & Combinations:

• Turbid urine caused by cold-damp in the urinary bladder. Bixie is used with Yizhiren, Shicangpu and Wuyao in the formula Bixie Fenqing Yin.

• Mild urinary problem due to damp-heat flowing down to the urinary bladder. Bixie is used with Huangbai and Cheqianzi.

• Wind-damp obstruction syndrome manifested as joint pain, numbness of the lower limbs and lower back pain. Bixie is taken alone.

• Cold-damp obstruction syndrome. Bixie is used with Guizhi and Fuzi.

• Damp-heat obstruction syndrome. Bixie is used with Sangzhi, Qinjiao and Yiyiren.
