Functions:
- To transform dampness;
- To dispel summer-heat;
- To stop vomiting
Indications & Combinations:
- Dampness blocking the spleen and stomach manifested as epigastric and abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting and poor appetite; Huoxiang is used with Cangzhu, Houpo and Banxia in the formula Buhuanjin Zhenqi San.
- Internal injury caused by raw and cold food and invasion by exogenous wind and cold in summer manifested as chills, fever, headache, epigastric fullness, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Huoxiang is used with Zisuye, Banxia, Houpo and Chenpi in the formula Huoxiang Zhengqi San.
- Vomiting:
- a) Vomiting caused by turbid dampness in the spleen and stomach; Huoxiang is used alone or with Banxia and Shengjiang
- b) Vomiting caused by damp-heat in the spleen and stomach; Huoxiang is used with Huanglian, Zhuru and Pipaye;
- c) Vomiting caused by weakness in the spleen and stomach; Huoxiang is used with Dangshen and Gancao
- d) Vomiting caused by pregnancy; Huoxiang is used with Sharen and Banxia.

- 5-10 g
