Common: Straw Weed, Chinese Lovage Root

Latin: Radix et Rhizoma Ligustici Chinensis

 

Actions:

  • Expels wind-cold and stops headache: Used especially for vertex headache, or headache that travels from the vertex to the cheeks and teeth.
  • Expels wind and stops pain: for joint pain, arthritic pain, and abdominal pain due to wind and cold.
  • Treats both ends of the Du Mai: can treat acute lower back pain from exterior wind-cold invasion.

Contraindications:

  • This herb is very drying, caution in patients with yin or blood Deficiency.

Dosage:

  • 3-9g. Used parts = root and rhizome.
