Actions:

  • Promote Blood and Qi circulation
  • Expel wind and alleviate pain

1.     Blood and Qi stagnation: irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, dysmenorrheal, chest and flanks pain, joints pain; e.g. Tao Hong Si Wu Tang, with Dang Gui, Tao Ren, Hong Hua

2.     Headache due to whatever wind cold or wind heat or wind damp; e.g. Chuan Xiong Cha Tiao San, with Fang Feng, Bai Zhi, Xi Xin

Dosage:

  • 3-9g

Precaution:

  • This herb has acrid and warm properties, so if patients have deficiency of Yin and excess fire, or profuse menstruation should be careful or prohibited.
