Properties: Bitter, Sour, Neutral

English Translation: Ox Knee From Sichuan

Common: Cyathula Root

Latin: Radix Cyathula Officinalis

Actions:

  • Promote Blood circulation and expel Blood stasis
  • Tonify Kidney and Liver, strengthen sinews and bones, benefit joints
  • Promote urination
  • Induce the downward movement of Blood

1.     Blood stasis cause amenorrhea, dysmenorrheal, postpartum abdominal pain; e.g. with Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, Hong Hua, Tao Ren

2.     Lower back pain, Bi syndrome, joints pain due to Kidney and Liver deficiency, blood stasis; e.g. with Du Zhong, Xu Duan, Ba Ji Tian

3.     Painful urination or difficult urination; e.g. with Zhu Ling, Che Qian Cao, Tong Cao

4.     Induce downward of the rebelling or raise Blood and Yang, such as vomiting blood, nasal bleeding, toothache, dizziness, headache; e.g. Sheng Di Huang, San Zhi Zi

Dosage:

  • 9-15g

Contraindications:

  • During pregnancy should be prohibited

Addendum:

  • Chuan Niu Xi. This herb is good for clear wind damp Bi syndrome, in lower part of body
