Properties: Spicy, Hot, Toxic

English Translation: Appendage

Common: Processed Aconite

Latin: Radix Lateralis Praeparatus Aconiti Carmichaeli

Actions:

  • Restore damaged and weak Yang
  • Warm kidney-fire
  • Warm channels and alleviate pain

1.     Resuscitate damaged and weak Yang. Extreme cold limbs, profuse cold sweating, faint and imperceptible pulse; e.g. Si Ni Tang, with Gan Jiang, Zhi Gan Cao

2.     Warm Ming Men(kidney)’s fire, as well as Heart and Spleen Yang; Lower back and knees cold and pain, diarrhea, impotence or uterine channel cold cause infertility, palpation; e.g. Zhen Wu Tang, with Bai Zhu, Fu Ling

3.     Cold or damp-cold accumulate channels cause Bi syndrome, or dysmenorrheal; e.g. with Gui Zhi, Chuang Xiong

Dosage:

  • 1.5-15g. Use toasted(Zhi Fu Zi) and decoct 30-60min. before adding other herbs can reduce ith toxicity

Precaution: during pregnancy should be prohibited: this herb is incompatible with Ban Xia, Gua Lou, Bai Mu, Bai Ji, and Bai Lian
