Herbs that warm the interior 

 

 

Channels: KI, LIV, SP, ST

Properties: Spicy, Bitter, Hot, Slightly Toxic, Very Dry

Common: Evodia Fruit

Latin: Fructus Evodiae Rutaecarpae

Actions:

  • Expel cold and alleviate pain
  • Warm Liver Qi and redirect rebellious Qi downward

1.     Liver cold cause stagnation, such as headache, hernia; e.g. Wu Zhu Yu Tang, with Ren Shen, Sheng Jiang

2.     Spleen or Stomach cold or both Spleen-Kidney deficiency cold, cause abdominal pain diarrhea

3.     Vomiting due to liver Qi rebellious, with flank pain or sour fluid; e.g. if due to cold with Sheng Jiang, Ban Xia, if due to heat with Huang Lian

Dosage:

  • 1.5-5g

* Precaution:

This herb has acrid and heat properties, so deficiency Yin or long term use should be prohibited
