Properties: Spicy & Bitter & Aromatic & Warm

 

Common: Notopterygium Root

Latin: Radix Et Rhizoma Notopterygii

 

Actions:

  • Releases the exterior and disperses cold: for chills, fever, headache and a heavy sensation in the body.
  • Stops damp bi pain: for wind-cold-damp bi pain, especially in the upper parts of the body, including the occiput.
  • Guides qi to the greater yang and governing vessels: directs other herbs to regions traversed by these channels.

Contraindications:

  • Caution in cases of blood, yin, and exterior deficiency. Overdosage may cause nausea and vomiting.

Dosage:

  • 6-15g. Use parts = root or rhizome.
