  • Disperses wind-heat: treats respiratory tract infection, especially with loss of voice and a sore, swollen throat.
  • Facilitates the expression of rashes: for early stage of measles.
  • Clears the eyes: benefits red, painful, swollen eyes and clears blurring of vision, especially due to wind and heat.
  • Stops spasms from wind: used when high fever causes spasms, delirium, or night terrors, especially in children. Also used in formulas to combat tetanus.

Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated during pregnancy, and in exterior deficiency syndromes.

Dosage:

  • 3-9g. Part used = slough shed by the ciccada nymph.
