Actions:

• Drains heat and fire: for febrile diseases with thirst, fever, and a yellow tongue coating. Also for summerheat with the above symptoms.
• Used for burns and sores: for ulcers in the mouth, to relieve sore throat or swollen tonsils, and used topically for burns and scalds.

Contraindications:

• Caution in cases without true heat, or in cases of cold from deficiency of the spleen and stomach.
