Properties: Sweet, Cold

English Translation: Earth Bone Bark

Common: Cortex of Wolfberry Root or Lycium Bark

Latin: Cortex Radicis Lycii Chinensis

 

Actions:

  • Clears heat from yin deficiency: for chronic fevers, night sweats, steaming bone disorder, irritability or thirst.
  • Clears lung heat and stops cough and wheezing.
  • Cools the blood: for vomiting with blood, epistaxis, and blood in the urine.
  • Drains floating fire in the kidney channel: for fire from deficiency causing toothache.

Contraindications:

  • Caution in patients with an exterior disorder, and from cold from deficiency of the spleen and stomach.

Dosage:

  • 6-15 Grams. Part used = root-bark
