Action
- To clear heat and release toxins.
- To eliminate endogenous wind and stop convulsions.
- To resolve phlegm and promote resuscitation.
Indications & Combinations
- Loss of consciousness and convulsions caused by high fever: Niu Huang is used with Huang Lian, Xi Jiao and She Xiang in the formula An Gong Niu Huang Wan.
- Sore throat or ulcers and boils due to accumulation of toxic heat. Niu Huang is used with Qing Dai and Jin Yin Hua.
