Properties: Sweet, Neutral

Common: Chinese Wolfberry Fruit, Matrimony Vine Fruit

Latin: Fructus Lycii Chinensis

Actions:

  • Tonifies the Liver and Kidney yin, mildly tonifies the Kidney Yang
  • Benefits the essence and brightens the eyes
  • Enriches the yin and moistens the Lungs
  1. Yin and blood deficiency: sore back and legs, impotence, wasting and thirsting disorder
  2. Liver and Kidney deficiency: blurred vision, dizziness
  3. Consumptive cough

Contraindications:

  • While this is not as greasy and cloying as many other yin and blood tonics, those with Spleen deficiency and dampness leading to diarrhea may still find it hard to digest. In those cases, the herb should be used with caution.

  • 6-12g
